1. Who we are

ReturnWise helps South African individuals and small businesses prepare their tax. We act as the responsible party for the personal information you give us, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

2. What we collect

We collect the details you enter to prepare your return, such as your name, contact details, tax reference number, income, deductions and the documents you upload. We also collect basic technical information needed to run the service securely.

3. How we use it

We use your information to provide the service: to calculate your tax position, prepare your filing, keep your account secure and support you. We do not sell your personal information.

4. How we keep it safe

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We keep it only for as long as we need it to provide the service or to meet our legal obligations.

5. Sharing

We share your information only where needed to run the service, for example with the providers who host our systems, and where we are required to by law. Where you choose to file with SARS, you direct us to share the relevant information with SARS.

6. Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and in some cases ask us to delete it. You may also object to certain uses of your information.
